Job Title: Scrum Master
General Summary
The client's team is responsible for processing and distributing client's content to Live, Linear and Non-linear platforms across internal and external partners, as well as providing content management and editorial services. Our teams are responsible for the platform services and infrastructure stability for brands such as [Client's] Sports, Entertainment, News, and TV Stations.
As Scrum Master, the incumbent will be facilitating and supporting scrum teams to reach peak productivity and progress towards successful delivery of team objectives which are derived from customer requests within our Fox businesses. The Scrum Master will assist the Product Owner with maintaining a healthy and actionable backlog, identifying and resolving roadblocks, tracking progress, and identifying and acting on opportunities for continuous improvement. This role will be within the Program Management office, working across verticals to monitor and report on performance metrics using Jira, Confluence, Google Drive, Quip and Slack. This information will in turn help each team to self-correct and continue to perform at the highest level. This role will report to the Senior Director of Media Services, Program Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Runs Agile SDLC using both Scrum and Kanban
● Plans and facilitates all agile ceremonies in collaboration with the product owner, including refinements, iteration planning, retrospectives, demos, and daily stand-ups
● Understands program goals and objectives and works with program management, product owner, and development team to estimate target timelines based on team capacity and velocity
● Drives, facilitates and supports teams progress towards successful delivery of the team goals and objectives, as well as report on progress towards those goals and objectives
● Removes impediments that would prevent the team from achieving its sprint and release goals
● Analyzes team’s self-reported data and identifies opportunities for agile coaching and process improvement
● Creates reports and dashboards to understand team progress against objectives and timelines, identifies any areas of risk that need to be addressed, and helps to mitigate risks and provide updated timeline estimates
● Assists with ongoing Jira & Confluence needs for the teams as an Admin
● Creates automated tools (Jira subscriptions, quip velocity worksheet) to help teams monitor their process and progress
● Supports the team’s Jira and Confluence needs in an administrative function
● Mentors Product Owners to make daily decisions to keep the project in motion and empowers them to partner with business stakeholders to make more strategic decisions
● Cultivates an Agile mindset in all team members where problems are embraced as welcome opportunities to adapt
● Provides updates and statuses as required
● Generates time tracking reports for project reporting
● Coordinates various team and process calendars
● Capture feedback to foster collaboration, motivation, satisfaction, and productivity amongst the teams
QUALIFICATIONS
● Knowledge of software life cycles and development frameworks (Agile, Lean, SAFe)
● Experience with project management
● Experience with PI/Quarterly planning and defining and driving towards business objectives
● Experience with the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence)
● Extremely detail-oriented
● Possess emotional intelligence to balance the different types of team members and personalities across the team
● Proactive with the ability to plan and manage their own time
● Ability to balance program priorities with the needs of the development teams
● Must be solution curious and be able to propose improvement suggestions ● Able to perform repetitive status and reporting tasks for extended periods of time
● Consistent, reliable performance and the ability to follow established procedures and workflows
● Ability to stay motivated and focused
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Previous data collection and analysis experience
● Ability to present to Director and above as needed
EDUCATION & TRAINING
● Scrum Master Certification is desired, not required
● Scrum Coach certification is nice-to-have
● Experience coaching at large organizations or Fortune 500 companies is nice-to-have
